SNL’s Pete Davidson Pays Tribute to Firefighter Father Who Died on 9/11
Saturday Night Live’s Pete Davidson took to Twitter and Instagram today to pay tribute to his late father, Scott Davidson, an NYC firefighter who died in the line of duty on Sept. 11, 2001 when the future SNL star was seven years old. Davidson’s tribute is both crudely funny and heartbreaking—a beautiful example of how humor often helps us cope with tragedy.

He also posted on Instagram, which allowed him to type a bit more than Twitter.
Davidson has joked about his father’s death in the past, most notably during Comedy Central’s Roast of Justin Bieber, when the comedian said, “I lost my dad on 9/11 and I always regretted growing up without a dad. Until I met your dad, Justin. Now I’m glad mine’s dead.”
